About the event
Traditional English longdraw is a woollen spinning technique that enables a light, lofty, warm and squishy yarn to be produced for your projects – in other words, warmth without weight.
English longdraw also has the bonus of being a very efficient way to produce yarn without physical muscle overstrain. It is very rhymthic and a joy to do, and some spinners find it faster than a short draw method.
This technique uses shorter length fleeces which can be hard to manage when spinning worsted. The fleece staples are carded into rolags using hand carders, or batts using a drum carder. During this workshop, you will use both.
Washed fleece will be provided to participants for the half-day workshop.
The workshop will cover the following techniques:
· Refresher and troubleshooting participants’ use of hand carders and drum carders
