Save the Date: Statewide Spinning Retreat – St Helens, 4 - 6 September 2026

This September, fibre enthusiasts from across the state are invited to gather by the coast for a very special weekend. The St Helens guild is thrilled to be hosting the statewide spinning retreat in the town centre and we can’t wait to welcome fellow fibre lovers for three inspiring days of creativity, connection and fun.

Set in the beautiful seaside town of St Helens the retreat will run over three days giving

participants plenty of time to slow down, immerse themselves in their craft and enjoy the company of like-minded people who share a love of fibre and making. Whether you spin, weave, dye, knit, felt—or happily dabble in all of the above—this weekend is designed to nourish both skills and friendships.

The program will include a range of workshops, hands-on sessions and fun activities along with opportunities to sit, spin and chat. There will also be raffles and prizes running across the weekend adding an extra layer of excitement and surprise. A highlight of the retreat will be a proposed gala dinner on Saturday night- a chance to relax, dress up (or not!), and enjoy good food and great company as we celebrate our shared passion for fibre.

Participants are asked to arrange their own accommodation with St Helens offering a wide variety of options to suit different styles and budgets. These include Airbnb stays, hotels, apartments and holiday parks, many within easy reach of the retreat venue and the town’s cafés, beaches and scenic walks. Making your own accommodation arrangements also gives you the flexibility to extend your stay and explore the region.

The St Helens guild members are genuinely excited to be hosting this event. We’re looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new fibre friends, and sharing a weekend filled with learning, laughter and creativity.
